Bolted blocks

As it is difficult to procure very large pieces of box-wood, owing to the small circumference of the box-tree, and ingenious method of bolting several blocks together was invented, in order to produce large engravings. This is done by means of screws inserted at the back of the block and fastened by nuts. Owing to this invention, there is practically no limit to the size of a woodcut.
