Klip Springer

Oreotragus saltatrix

Delighting in precipitous rocks where neither man nor dog can follow, the Klip Springer perches upon high pinnacles and shares the habits of the ibex more than the antelope, standing about twenty-two inches high. Its hair is yellowish-grey, ashy at root, brown in the middle, and yellow at the tip to yield a lively olive-green, hard and erect so as to form an elastic pad, while the black annulated horns reach five inches and are wanting in the female.
