Papuan Hog

Sus Papuensis

Standing from eighteen to twenty inches high with a light slender form, round body, short legs and ears, it is blackish red above and on the sides, white on the cheeks, throat, flanks, and belly, with a brown wrinkled skin and long black muzzle hairs, the young marked by bright fawn bands. Common in the forests of New Guinea, it wants the tusks of the Wild Boar and feeds on the roots and fruits abounding there.
