Purple-Capped Lory

Porius domicellus

A beautiful Lory of the Moluccas and other Eastern Islands, upwards of 11 inches long, much esteemed for elegant plumage, docility, and distinct utterance, and fond of being caressed. Its ground colour is rich scarlet over the lower body, neck, and back, broken by a yellow breast-collar, with a blackish-purple to violet crown, green wings edged violet-blue, azure thighs, and an orange-yellow bill.
