Volume 15, Plate XXIV / Ornithology (Birds)
Sapphire-Crowned Psittacule
Psittaculus galgulus
A diminutive parrot of the Indian and Australian islands, figured in its young or immature male state, agreeing nearly with the adult in size and colour. The upper parts are lively green save for the crimson-red rump and tail-coverts, with only slight indication of the blue crown of the adult; in maturity the throat becomes red, an orange-yellow crescent encircling the hind neck.
