Barbary or Yellow Crowned Bush-Shrike
Malaconotus Barbarus
One of the most splendid bush-shrikes, uniting black with the richest crimson, common and showy in Senegal and ranging almost the whole length of Africa, about the size of a small thrush. The crown and neck are olive-yellow, the sides of the head, ears, and upper plumage glossy black, the long soft back feathers white-spotted within, while the under parts to the belly are richest crimson, the chin tinged orange and the thighs buff.
