Rabbit-Eared Perameles

Perameles lagotis

A rabbit sized burrowing marsupial with a very long attenuated muzzle and large ears nearly as long as the head, the long soft fur ashy grey above with pale vinous rust on the sides and white beneath. The long tail bears bushy black hairs at base and white toward the tip, where they reach two inches, the fore claws very large, the head and body about eighteen inches with a long tail, and it is native to Swan River.
