Tangum, Piebald, or Skewbald Horse

Equus varius

This piebald or skewbald horse appears to claim a distinct species, its characteristic spotted marks found in animals perfectly wild and unmixed with horses of other shape or colour. First observed on the northern declivities of the Himalaya and reported from Eastern Tahtary and Thibet, the wild form stands below ten hands, is covered in winter with long hair, and is symmetrically marked with spots, scouring along in numbers on the highest summits.
