Anodus? notatus
Placed doubtfully in this genus, this fish takes no bait and the specimen leapt into the canoe by a sandbank on the Rio Negro, measuring about six and three-quarter inches to the caudal fork. Pale olive on the head, bluish grey above changing to silvery on sides and belly, it bears a deep black oval spot between the ventral and anal fins and a dark bluish-green bar across the tail; its scales are deciduous.
