Collared Pratincole
Glareola torquata
A curious bird of which only seven or eight British specimens are known, all but one taken in England, the Collared Pratincole is a continental straggler with great powers of flight that runs swiftly and feeds wholly on flies. Its plumage is dark hair-brown above with a greenish lustre, an ochreous throat bounded by a black collar, white belly, deep orange-brown axillaries, and a forked tail white at the base with blackish ends.
