Gwatkin’s Galidictis

Galidictis chrysogaster

Black on the back, shoulders, and legs, deep brownish on the body and paler on the flanks, it has a white throat, orange tawny breast and abdomen, cat like toes with white claws, and a long tail, attaining forty two inches in total length. Fetid in odour, it sits erect, gambols actively, climbs and leaps between trees, and barks with a hoarse note, the female resembling the male; a specimen was shot at Mussorie in the Himalayas.
