Common Trout & Northern Charr

1. Common Trout. The common trout is a widely distributed fresh-water fish found across northern Europe in both running and stationary waters, featuring a blunt head and sides speckled with bright red spots. Highly variable in color based on local environments, this species performs local migrations to shallow currents to spawn in November and is valued as a palatable food and permanent object for anglers.
2. Northern Charr. The charr is a variable fresh-water fish distinguished by a dark olive back, red or white spots, and a deep reddish-orange belly with white-margined fins. Found in deep, cool lakes across Scotland, England, and Wales, this species commonly weighs under a pound and spawns either near Michaelmas in tributary rivers or in late December within lake shallows.
