Tiger

Felis Tigris

Nearly equal to the lion in strength and surpassing him in activity, the Tiger is slender and graceful, of a bright tawny yellow shading to white beneath and marked with dark bands, lacking any mane. Confined to Asia, with its great nursery in the jungles of Hindustan, it is largely nocturnal, watching at drinking-places and prowling villages to seize cattle, buffalo, and travellers, and though tamed when young its temper is less to be trusted than the lion’s.
