Sylva Britannica

A poster of illustrations from Jacob George Strutt’s 1830 collection

In 1822, British portrait and landscape painter Jacob George Strutt created 50 etchings of special trees around Britain. These were published as a large folio of illustrations accompanied by brief descriptions and poetry, focusing less on scientific aspects and more on their natural beauty. These illustrations were again released in 1830 as more compact illustrations which are displayed on this poster as a complete collection.
