Colocolo

Felis colocolo

The Colocolo, shot in the interior of Guiana, is larger than the wild cat, with a remarkably flat broad head, large round ears, slender body, strong legs, and a tail just touching the ground. The neck and back are whitish-grey, the under parts white, the back marked with lengthened black streaks edged with tawny, a black streak running from eye to jaw; its appearance so terrified the monkeys overhanging the river that they fled with prodigious screams.
