Banded Diacope

Diacope rivulata

Found on the Coromandel coast, this fish reaches three feet and a half and is of a rich violet colour changing to pink on the lower parts. Oblique lines mark the opercles, and the head and each scale of the body bear small dots of a clear blue, which lose their delicate tint and turn white soon after the fish is removed from the water.
