Mangabey or White Eyelid Monkey

Cercocebus fuliginosus

Found on the western coast of Africa, this monkey is named from its conspicuous chalky grayish-white eyelids set against a dark brownish-purple face. Its fine, soft hair is a dull sooty black shading to yellowish on the breast and belly, the slender extremities resembling a black-gloved hand; mild and good-tempered yet restless and active, it is remarkably cleanly and lifts food to its mouth rather than stooping.
