Amethystine Humming-Bird

Trochilus amethystinus

A long-known and beautiful species whose simple adult colours are golden-green above and grey below, with the throat adorned by the amethystine patch from which its name derives, resembling that gem in its beauty. The bright patch is bordered beneath by a light grey crescent, and in the adult the tail is deeply forked, its outward feathers narrow and slender.
