Explanation

All 13,329 figures from the Iconographic Encyclopædia are represented in the image above. Each large block represents a single plate divided into smaller “blocks” representing each figure. The sizes of the smaller blocks are based on the file sizes of the figures extracted from the plates. The encyclopedia contains 500 plates, though only 495 are shown because 5 plates are considered as 2 from the original publication. Larger blocks are color coded based on subject and randomly arranged.
