From a copy in the Providence Public Library (facsimile), Göttingen Digitization Centre (scan)

1710

…a small quarter book in Latin by Paul Pater about printing and printing types, was published at Leipsic in 1710 by J. F. Gleditsch and Son under the title of De Germaniæ Miraculo Optimo Maximo, Typis Literarum, earumque differentiis, Dissertatio.… The book is probably one of the earliest tractates on the typographical material of a nation, and gives a characteristic collection of fonts in use in German printing-houses at the end of the seventeenth and beginning of the eighteenth century.… A page of roman and italic types, still retaining some good qualities, and another showing fraktur and schwabacher…are produced.
